THE STORY OF THE AUTHOR & THE ILLUSTRATOR
Working with Tracy Weldon, she shared stories of her young boys digging their own sandcastles — images of them galloping around like little princes directing the build of a real castle. Those stories pushed me straight back to my own life on the beach, sand in my suit. Two people, two childhoods, one scene.
